Lucy McEachern and Grace Gladdish - "A sculptor & A Printmaker"

Lucy McEachern & Grace Gladdish “A Sculptor & A Printmaker”

A Sculptor and A Printmaker will be a very special exhibition at Blenheim Gallery with Lucy McEachern renowned, bronze sculptor returning from the UK to present her new Australian bird bronze sculptures made whilst away drawing inspiration from her former rural Australian surroundings.

Lucy Mceachern is an amazing talented sculptor. Her works in bronze depicting many of the Native and other Birds we know and love, captured by her keen eye. Lucy has exhibited with Blenheim on a regular basis and now is recognised by many corporate and private collectors throughout Australia.

She has also undertaken some major commissions as part of her artistic journey.

Grace Gladdish on the other hand lives at the foothills of kunanyi in Hobart. She has developed a unique style of hand painted linocuts that are richly coloured and full of detailed observances of the wild landscape around her. She is particularly inspired by the alpine regions of Tasmania and the unique native plants that thrive in these areas.

Grace’s skills are recognised by the wider printmaking community. She has been included in national group exhibitions, runs regular workshops for Hunter Island Press, and was featured in French arts magazine ‘Pratique des Arts’. She also regularly exhibits with the ‘nowhereprint’ collective, a group of Tasmanian printmakers who make work about their island home.

More recently, Grace has begun to cut and tear her linocuts, re-fitting them into collages that become new imagined landscapes. The act of tearing up her work has released a new creativity, ‘drawing’ with the found lines within the original linocuts and finding ways that they serendipitously connect, as if the landscape is dictating the journey that the lines travel. These collages give scope to explore not just the landscape itself, but the artist’s connections to it and relationship with it.

This exhibition promises not to disappoint the viewer.
