Tasmanian Landscape with a Northern Midlands Touch

Tasmanian Landscape with a Northern Midlands Touch

A Tasmanian landscape with a Northern Midlands touch will feature the region's rolling hills, fertile plains, as the ‘Heartlands’ of Tasmania. This picturesque landscape contrasts with the mountainous, rugged western and central parts of the state, and combines open pastoral scenery of the Midlands with other iconic Tasmanian features.

The area is renowned for its patchwork of farmland, dotted with grazing sheep and heritage-listed homesteads. Meandering rivers, such as the Macquarie and South Esk, carve through the landscape, providing both natural beauty and vital water sources for agriculture. Mature eucalypt trees and stands of poplars line the country roads, adding to the region’s unique charm.

Inspiration to many artists since settlement and with the duration of time revered from John Glover through to Tom Roberts, and more contemporary artists David Chapman, Philip Wolfhagen and Michael McWilliams. This exhibition will not disappoint with the artists participating include Denise Campbell, Pamela Horsley, Carlton Cox, David Chapman.
