David Hamilton “A Place in Time”

David Hamilton’s exciting “Place in Time” exhibition opened at Blenheim Gallery on Saturday 14 October and his sculptures flow from his boat metaphor for human experiences using cast bronze to convey his satirical view of the world and particularly in Paris and the Seine river. These works were accompanied by prints of his notebook drawings undertaken in Paris.

A most accomplished sculptor who was Head of Sculpture at Utas in Launceston for 30 years and for the last 20 years has followed his own artistic sculptural pursuit full time.

David through his experience at the Cité International des Arts in Paris and his return to his studio on the outskirts of Launceston are stimulus for his work..

David is a major Australian sculptor and he is represented in various university, public, corporate and private collections within Australia and overseas.

During this time he has also undertaken a number of major public sculpture commissions in his home state of Tasmania.

He has also beyond his own interest supported sculpture in Tasmania and his fellow sculptors whether emerging or established. His personal generosity has been outstanding.
