CRAIG ASHTON

My artistic inspiration draws heavily from bio morphism, anthropomorphism and elements of the natural world. Since completing an Associate Degree in design.

2008 I went on to further my studies by undertaking an arts degree in 2015/18.

Since finishing my degree I have embarked on a journey of exploration and experimentation, using a diverse range of mediums including clay, bronze, wood, fiberglass, automotive paints And recently delving into forms made of concrete.

Through my artistic practice, I challenge conventional notions of art and function, by at times incorporating sculptural elements into functional pieces such as coffee tables and other utilitarian objects, resulting in works that hint function but are also sculptural in form.

Using highly polished surfaces to create tactile and alluring finishes I wish to evoke that innate human desire to touch and interact in a more personal way with the art works.

The natural world with its shapes, textures, and patterns fascinates me, and I seek to incorporate these aspects into my artwork
