Dawn Oakford’s career began at Launceston College where she taught ceramics and art theory. She then returned to the Tasmanian School of Art to complete her Master of Fine Arts degree. Dawn also taught ceramics at the University of Tasmania and TAFE Tasmania. During this time, she also established a successful arts practice, producing her well-known zoomorphic tableware range that references Australian birds and mammals, signature teapots and sculptural works.

Her ceramics have featured in several touring shows, solo exhibitions and forty group exhibitions throughout Australia and overseas. Images of her highly original work have also been included in publications such as Handmade in Tasmania and three of the Lark Book series (USA).

Dawn’s delightful and intriguing ceramics have been acquired by both public and private collections around the world.
