A Sculptor & A Printmaker Exhibition Talk

A Sculptor & A Printmaker exhibition talk

Join us for an exhibition talk on Grace Gladdish printmaker and Lucy McEachern’s sculptures over a cup of coffee.

As part of Longford Blooms weekend Grace Gladdish’s selection of exhibition works offer a striking and intimate perspective on Tasmania’s alpine landscapes — a subject of deep personal resonance for the artist, whose studio sits in the foothills of Kunanyi. Through a process that combines relief printing with watercolour, she brings to life the rugged contours, foliage, and rocky terrain of these highland environments.

Working in varying scales, Gladdish’s pieces are unified by their vibrant colour, expert composition, and textural richness. Her ability to balance stark print forms with delicate painterly gestures creates a unique visual language that will appeal to lovers of both printmaking and the natural world.

Whilst Lucy McEachern’s Australian birds in bronze hark to something unique to each specie and their character in movement and shape.

Lucy’s bronze sculptures have been included in the prestigious Birds in Art exhibition in Wausau, USA, and last year was one of 92 artists accepted from 900 applicants.

Her love of birds, she says, was passed down partly from her late father, Clive, and partly from her experiences growing up at Wingiel. “Where brolgas and wedgies nest on the farm. We’ve been doing a lot of tree planting since we’ve had Wingiel.

“There are rosellas and crested pigeons, and on the lake, ducks, moorhens and little sandpipers. There are a lot more waterbirds now that we have more reeds.”

A wonderful influence and pathway to her current art practice.
