Congratulations Wayne Z Hudson @ Sculpture by the Sea
“Snowflake” an outstanding new sculpture by Wayne has taken centre stage in Sydney.
Dr Wayne Z Hudson (Tasmania)
Snowflake
powder coated steel
260 x 200 x 140 cm
Statement Snowflake is depicted from childhood summer memories where the beach was covered with coloured umbrellas. Families formally selected their space to be able to enjoy the sun and watch over their kids running riot on the beach and in the water.
Congratulations to Dr Wayne Z. Hudson, who has returned to Sculpture by the Sea for the third time with 'Snowflake' — a powder-coated steel work standing over eight feet tall, overlooking the ocean at Marks Park. Inspired by childhood summers when beaches bloomed with colourful umbrellas, 'Snowflake' captures the vivid joy and rhythm of coastal memory.
Hudson has exhibited across Australia, New Zealand and the USA, and was the recipient of the Dick Bett Memorial Tasmanian Sculptor Award at Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi in 2019. His works are represented in major Tasmanian collections, and 'Snowflake' marks his third appearance in the exhibition since 2019.
